STATE OF THE FLOAT ADDRESS
The last month has been very productive and we have been working every weekend all weekend. The castle has been layered with plywood and covered with foam. One side has been painted. Joe and Scott spent an entire day with a grinder carving stones into the foam. They looked like snowmen when they were done. The Village and the roofs for the thatch have been framed. The rolling hills have been about ¾ finished and painted.
On Monday Oct 4 th The Float was moved to Rustic Steel to have the Dragon Constructed. Bob Patton of Trick Fabrication was the driver Dan Frances, John Herbst and Peter Flynn were the escort vehicles. After an uneventful ride and a few close encounters with branches, curbs and a Stop sign. We arrived at Rustic Steel.
The float takes up the entire front of the building. Dominic and his crew (or is that krewe) were very excited to start on it and ended up working for ten hours that night after we dropped the float off at 9pm. When I dropped back Thursday afternoon the neck and most of the body had been framed in with rebar and they had worked most of Tuesday and Wednesday night on it as well.
We will now be working over at Rustic Steel on the weekends and we have three weeks until the first parade. WE MUST ALL HELP FINISH.
To get to Rustic Steel from the Aquarium at the rotary go under the parking garage and turn right the float will be right in front of you. 114 S 12 th ST Tampa.
